Working in a Crèche
There’s a lot of courses going on in the centre, the parents drop the children in here because they know it’s a safe environment, we do all the safety checks, a lot of us have got first aid, we just sort of set out a variety of toys that stimulate the children so that they’ve got lots of fun things to do and they are still learning through their play. We do a snack time with them so that they get to socialise and they get used to sitting down as a little group to have something to eat and a drink and we sort of encourage them to talk and make sure they’re having fun. Some of them sort of have dummies or bottles, and we sort of put that to one side and if they’ve got a bag with their juice cup in, we sort of label all the bags so we know what bag belongs to what child. With the really little ones you’ve also got to change nappies, so it’s all labelled so we use the right nappies and the right wipes for the right child. When they are sort of birth to 3, their brains are like sponges and that when they do most of their learning.
